Dreaming as a spiritual journey

I started studying dream work more 30 years ago – long before I discovered shamanism. And the more I learned, the more I experienced the incredible connection dreaming shares with a spiritual path – for a whole variety of reasons, both scientific and energetic.

In fact, dreaming is at the core of shamanic practice.

Shamans are dreamers, grounded in the physical body and with the earth, who know that the soul speaks through dreams.

Dreamtime is not only where we sleep; it is the place where the shaman works.

Shamans have long known what physicists and scientists are proving today: that we can step outside of time, bend time, move backward and forward in time, and step into synchronicity. 

They know that by shifting our perception, we can enter any stream of the river of life. . . that we have access to all the realms where our souls exist, realms that run parallel and simultaneous to the physical world.

As shamanic practitioners, we are taught how to journey, going out of the body and traveling in the mind’s eye. During journey, brain waves shift with the sound of the drum and create the “dream” space where the shaman works … images that come in, eyes open or closed, day or night.

Journey is traveling, taking you to places of self-discovery and healing.

So is dreaming.

The dream realm is the most direct and rapid route to enlightenment. It is a portal to places of guidance, transformation and healing, with direct access to spirit.
